DNA Update
The DNA year ended at the end of August with the final residential of the year taking place in Farr, just south of Inverness. The residential proved to be a great time of worship, prayer, reflection, teaching and fun. The year that has just ended was one of great encouragement to the DNA Team as the trainees gave of themselves to God and the DNA team for greater levels of personal wholeness and security; strength in who they are and who God has made them.
The trainees served in their placement churches, as well as in extra local settings such as Spring Harvest with Doug Horley and Dave Summers, in churches in Norway and Germany for their international trips, at events such as CLAN Gathering and Imagine in Scotland and Urban Saints' ReAct programme. A small team of trainees have also hd the oportunity of going to San Diego to serve with Amor Ministries who serve churches in Mexico building houses for the church pastors to give the keys of the houses to the poor.
Two trainees spent 3 months on an international Mission experience - one in India and one in San Diego//Mexico. Both have had life changing experiences.
We have been also been thrilled with developmental work that has been occuring for DNA with partnerships being formed with
1) YMCA London South West, the largest YMCA centre in the UK, recruiting individuals to have their placement action with the YMCA, whilst being discipled within a local church context, so that the YMCA is able to grow leaders for their organisation.
2) Urban Saints have taken DNA on as their year out provider encouraging their 900+ church based groups acrosss the UK to access DNA for the development of emerging young leaders.
3) The Baptist Union of Great Britain which is planting 12 new church plants a week in the UK has taken DNA on as their gap year programme as they want to develop young leaders for the denomination. This October we are piloting in a few Baptist churches to roll it out further in October 2012. The Baptists also want to access the baby boomers for discipleship training wanting to see them resources and released into usefulness.
Exciting times!
The new DNA year starts again on 3 October with numerous churches being served, including a number of Inspire churches. We look forward to it all starting again!! :-)
