Life @ Latymer

At the beginning of December, we witnessed that life begins at 75 as we baptised a dear man on his 75th Birthday! It has been fantastic to journey with him over the last 18 months as he has moved from following Sindhi Sikhism to faith in Jesus. As he said, “All my life I’ve been in the wilderness, I’ve been looking for the peace I’ve now found” and ”Now I will have to write ‘Christian’ on all the forms”. Praise God. He is one of a number of people who have found faith having first come to community activities organised at the Latymer Christian Centre. We are learning that the impact of simple things like a warm welcome when people first come through the door and being listened to can never be over estimated. We are also aware that God is at work in people’s lives prompting them to call at the Centre or attend a worship gathering. People are also belonging before believing which is great for us as they are the majority of volunteers at our community parties!


Currently, most of those we reach out to in the local community are adults, however, we are looking to increase our influence amongst young people through partnership with Eden (www.eden-network.org). This will involve a team of volunteers led by a team leader moving onto our local estates to live and serve as urban missionaries. We value your prayers as we seek to appoint the paid team leader and as volunteers are then recruited. More details are available via the Eden website.
