New Life Church Wickford - South Woodham Ferrers
In January 2010 New Life Church, Wickford started a church plant in South Woodham Ferrers. The first meeting contained a baptism and subsequently we have seen three people baptised which for us is a real sea change. Baptisms in New Life Church have always been a bit thin on the ground.
At the beginning of 2010, we had 4 people attending New Life Church from South Woodham Ferrers. As the year closes we have 18 people from South Woodham Ferrers regularly attending the church plant, plus our other activities. We have also seen quite a number of people from the Dengie region attending our gathered meeting in South Woodham Ferrers. This is God's answer to years of faithfully praying for God to move in this spiritually dead region. Now, a normal Sunday meeting in South Woodham Ferrers will see about 40 to 50 people coming along.
Along side this our congregation in Wickford has continued to see growth with over 60 people now regularly attending the gathered meeting taking place there.
From early 2011, our Sunday meeting in South Woodham Ferrers will switch to a morning which brings some challenges. However our faith goal for 2011 is to be a community of God's people called from the nations of the world meeting in two locations and totalling over 150 people.
It has been a wonderful experience to see the folks in New Life Church step-up to the challenge of running two congregations. We now look forward with anticipation and wonder to what God will do in our midst during 2011 and are excitedly looking forward to planting another congregation in Basildon sometime during the next two years.
