Update on Hertford Community Church
It's been a busy summer for Hertford Community Church, with children's holiday clubs, town-wide fun days, our famous Hog Roast and celebrating our own 13th birthday!
We continue to work into and serve the Pinehurst estate in Hertford and our fantastic children's worker and team ran another brilliant holiday club for primary age children during the first week of August. All of the children had a fun-filled week and finished off with a Sunday morning celebration to which several parents came along to hear all about what had been happening during the week. We really pray we can build on those relationships and get to know those families more and more. For the last three years, almost all the church fellowships across Hertford have come together to run 'Hertfest' and this year we had a great weekend of family fun days, an X-Games type skate competition, a young people's cafe night and an open air service to finish it all off. It is always exciting to see everyone getting ready for Hertfest and once again, we welcomed a team of young people from Atlanta, Georgia who came to serve alongside our Hertford young people in the run up to the weekend. This year, the US kids stayed with families from across the churches during the week which gave us a great opportunity to get to know them better and build those relationships too. HCC celebrated its 13th birthday at the start of September and we had a whole fun day of our own with food (which HCC does very well!), games in the park and an evening celebration where we looked back at some of the significant things God has done in our thirteen years. We really felt that in Jewish terms, turning 13 means entering adulthood so we took time to reflect on what kind of adult we want to be amongst the churches in Hertford. Please pray for us as a whole fellowship as we move forward in this.
Finally, the future looks interesting for the leadership team of HCC as half of us are expecting our first babies. Ali is due at the start of October and Jo is due in January, which means that Rick and Ian will have to shoulder a lot of responsibility between them for a certain period of time. Please really pray for the guys as they work together and serve the fellowship with the confines of a much smaller team. Love and blessings to all,
Jo Wood on behalf of Hertford Community Church
