Inspire Together Day - 28 August 2010
About 35 people from New Life Church Wickford attended the Together Day, a good cross section of ages being represented – from 6 months to 70 year olds.
It was great on arrival to have time to leisurely look around, have a drink and relax after the journey.
We found a picnic site, unfortunately doing what we so often do, sitting with our own church, missing the ideal opportunity to informally meet folk from elsewhere. Maybe we needed a gentle reminder and encouragement not to do this, but to mix with others, although we should know better!
Many of us felt the presence of God during the inspiring worship, we were no longer groups from various churches but a corporate body of worshippers giving praise to our Lord.
The reports from other churches were really interesting, they fostered a feeling of ‘belonging’, and being part of a larger and growing network, as well as finding out what was happening in other fellowships.
Many remarked how exciting it was to be part of the prayer tunnel, feeling it brought a feeling of support, as others stood with us in prayer.
The Diversity seminar was well received by those who attended, as was James Treasure’s presentation. It was a shame the quiz ran consecutively, as we would like to have taken part.
The word from Billy Kennedy was both challenging and encouraging.
Having taken 4 and 6 year olds, they thoroughly enjoyed their time and didn’t want to be dragged away!
The rain stopped us really sharing a BBQ together, which was a shame as again we weren’t able to mix with others.
The overall opinion from NLC was that the day was great for all ages, well balanced and well worth the travel. May it be the first of many!
