Introducing StrathNairn Community Church
StrathNairn = valley of the River Nairn
In the second half of 2004, three families moved from Portsmouth to a small rural community called Farr, 8 miles south of Inverness with a desire to plant church in the community. Joining King’s Fellowship in Inverness to learn and serve we began to meet in each other’s homes as a cell. Through running two Alpha courses we saw five people saved, three of whom were added to us along with a number of guys from King’s who had not been a part of a small group but who were up for discipleship and mission. We are now two adult cells, a youth and a children’s cell seeking to affect the local community and serving in a wide variety of contexts in the Strath.

Still very much a part of King’s, in 2010 we are planting as from King’s hiring the local community hall to meet as church one Sunday a month, with the blessing of the local minister’s who have served the community for years.
So around 30 of us meet for a family focused, missional, raw and unplugged expression of church with three core ingredients – worship, talk and clear application; sat cafe style around tables with free flowing coffee, followed by lunch together. Our first two meetings were not publicly advertised but some friends came, one seeing his leg grow after a word of knowledge. Our first public meetings began in January and we are now beginning to be asked by inquisitive locals what's going on at the Hall on a Sunday!
Committed to seeing prodigals return, and plenty of new salvation, the journey is one of great excitement. Our colours are now nailed to the local community mast.
